Supporting Australia’s CALD Communities For Over 15 Years

Australia is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse countries in the world. For many people, language is the bridge that connects them to services, opportunities, and a sense of belonging. At Interlingual Language Services, supporting CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities has never been just part of our work – it has been at the heart of our journey for more than 15 years.

When we first started, we saw how difficult it could be for people from multicultural backgrounds to navigate everyday systems. Simple tasks such as attending a medical appointment, enrolling children in school, or accessing community and government services often became overwhelming when language was a barrier. We knew that clear, respectful communication could make a real difference in people’s lives.

Over the years, we have worked closely with community organisations, health providers, education services, NDIS providers, and government-funded programs to deliver language services that are practical, reliable, and culturally appropriate. Our interpreters and translators do more than convert words from one language to another – they help build understanding, trust, and confidence.

Our journey has taught us that supporting CALD communities means listening first. Every community has its own experiences, challenges, and strengths. By working alongside organisations that support multicultural communities, we help ensure people can fully participate in decisions about their health, education, wellbeing, and future.

Today, the needs of CALD communities continue to evolve. Services are becoming more complex, systems more digital, and expectations higher. Our commitment remains the same: to provide language access that promotes inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity.

After more than 15 years, we are proud of the role we play in supporting Australia’s diverse communities. Language should never be a barrier to connection or belonging, and we remain dedicated to supporting CALD communities across Australia, now and into the future.
